WELCOME TO REAL*TIME
ONLINE
COUNSELING!
|
Welcome
to Online Counseling! We are very excited to launch this new
service in hope that we can reach out to more people in need of support
, and for whatever the reason may not be able to visit a therapist.
Can
Online Counseling really help? First, let me clarify that Online
Counseling is not
psychotherapy, it cannot be compared to psychotherapy, and it is not a
substitute for professional psychotherapeutic help, even if the person
conducting the Online Counseling session is a licensed professional
counselor. Working with a therapist face to face is always
better. However, many people may not have this option
available, and thanks to the internet we are able to
bridge geographical boundaries, and still be
able to connect at a real, and genuine level. Online Counseling is
better than no counseling at all.
Things
happen to all of us in
life. Some of those things are painful to deal with. For example;
A big change in your life....Loss of a job, a
home, or an important relationship... Emotions and
feelings that seem overwhelming...Challenges of
parenting or family life....Taking on the
responsibility of a frail elderly parent who has just moved in with
you...Troubling
relationships...Difficulties
at work....Why would you have to go through it alone?
When these things happen to you it doesn't mean there is something
wrong
with you; it doesn't mean you are "mentally ill." These things happen to
everybody! A psychotherapist is trained to help you cope
with those things so that you can get through them, and hopefully feel
better.
Online Counseling may be a good starting
point to reach out for help. Whenever you are ready to
start, we are here to welcome you, and start working with you.
Ready to
start the process? If so, begin
by reading the next paragraph, and then follow the 4 easy steps process that will guide
you through. "You must
be 18 years or older to use this service!"
I.
Read Terms & Conditions for Online*Real Time Counseling.
Before you can use this service, you must read, and agree with the
terms, and conditions for Online*Real Time Counseling. Once
you have read, and clicked
the "I ACCEPT" button, you will be automatically redirected to step
II. Here you select your preferred day and
time, and E-mail your request for an appointment, please indicate the length of time
for your appointment. Time slots start at 15 min, and are no more than 60 min, per session. Shortly after
we receive your appointment request we will send you; a.) A confirmed appointment b.) Your password to
access Online Counseling. Once
you receive your appointment, and password, you can click the menu
items labeled "Online Counseling," (located
on the left side of your screen),
or you may click on the pink floating tab, labeled "Services"
(located
on the right side of your screen.)
This may seem long , but it can take as little as
10 minutes to get started!
III.
Once you
have logged on to Online Counseling, you will find a menu of 4 different time choices. ( You must
choose the one corresponding to the time you chose at the time you
requested your appointment!). Click on the "get session" tab to complete your
transaction.
IV. Once your transaction is
completed, your computer screen will take you to a
"Transaction Completed Screen." THIS SCREEN IS THE ENTRANCE INTO YOU
SESSION!" Please
have the user name, and password that we sent you via e-mail ready when
you click on the purple active
link. Once you click on the link, a "user
name, & password" box will pop up, enter your
information, and your computer screen will take you to a simple screen,
and at the top of the page, you will be asked to enter your name to log
in. Once you log in, in the same space provided where you entered your
name, you can start writing about your concern. At which point , the
online therapist will be able to see what you are writing, she will
already be logged in, and she will respond to you, (just like an instant messenger!).
FIVE minutes
before your session is up, the therapist will let you know you have 5 minutes left, so that
conversations can start to wrap up. When the allotted time is up,
the online therapist name, will disappear from the screen. This means,
your session has ended, and the therapist can no longer see you. If you
needed more time, you must request another appointment.
This system works well, because it allows to provide you, and others
with the best possible care in the time allotted. Looking forward to
working with you!
